Our courses are interactive and immersive, allowing you to learn at your own pace. You can take our courses solo or as part of a group, and we offer flexible course scheduling options that fit your lifestyle. We offer three program types: Full-Time, Part-Time, and blended. Full-Time programs require 10 hours per week and Part-Time programs require 8 hours per week; blended programs require 7 hours per week of work while also completing 1-2 electives during the semester. Detroit Service Learning Academy founded in 2007

Detroit Service Learning Academy founded in 2007 by a group of Detroit teachers and administrators who recognized the need for more service learning opportunities in the city. The academy offers year-round service learning opportunities for students in grades K-12.

Since its inception, the academy has worked with a variety of partner organizations to offer service learning experiences that help students learn about social justice, community engagement, and environmental awareness. Some of the notable partners that have worked with DSLA over the years include Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Detroit, United Way of Southeast Michigan, and Equal Justice USA.

The academy currently has more than 100 enrolled students who are participating in over 30 different servicelearning projects throughout the city. Projects have ranged from cleaning up neighborhoods to building homes for low-income families. DSLA also partners with local schools to offer their students access to our programming and resources.

DSLA is committ to provid enriching servicelearning opportunities for Detroit students so that they can develop skills that will equip them for success in life.
